With our tips for Bhutan and Nepal, Thailand, India, Indonesia (and Bali), Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Vietnam, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, you'll find useful information and inspiration for your next trip.

By the way, here you can find all the information for Asia.

Travel Time Asia

Do you want to know when the best travel time for Asia is? Here you will find an overview of the countries we have traveled to in Asia and Southeast Asia. We have summarized a brief overview of the climate and weather for you.

Indonesia

The climate in Indonesia varies greatly by region. Generally, it's said that the dry season is from April to October, and the rainy season is from November to March. Rainfall occurs throughout the year, but it tends to be shorter and lighter during the dry season.

For Bali, Java, Lombok, and Sulawesi, the best travel time is from April to the end of October. It gets very humid then.

Japan

Japan travel is particularly popular and recommended in spring. Cherry blossoms bloom everywhere, which is celebrated as "Sakura." The exact date changes each year. See all about the cherry blossoms in Japan here. An alternative time to visit Japan is in autumn (September to November) when the leaves change color. I think the cherry blossoms are overrated and recommend a trip to Japan in the fall.

Maldives

Generally, you need to choose between the high season and the low season.

The high season lasts from December to April. In the low season, you can save a lot. Both flights and accommodations are significantly cheaper during this time. However, you also take the risk of experiencing some rain showers.

I traveled to the Maldives in early September during the low season. The temperatures were consistently above 30 degrees Celsius, and it barely rained. If it did, it was just a short shower. I also spoke with other travelers who had been to the Maldives multiple times.

Myanmar

You can travel to Myanmar year-round. However, there are two seasons defined by the monsoon: the dry season and the rainy season. I have detailed all the information in the article about the optimal travel time for Myanmar.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a year-round travel destination; there is no best travel time here. Since the island's climate zones are divided into two completely different zones influenced by opposing monsoons, it depends on where you want to travel and when. As it's a bit more complex, I have written the best travel time by region for Sri Lanka.

Thailand

It always depends on which region you want to travel to. Depending on the rainy season, one or the other 'side' of Thailand may be better to visit. Thanks to the numerous options, you can react spontaneously and fly with budget airlines from Phuket to Ko Samui.

December and January are the most beautiful but also the busiest. Only in the north can it be quite cool at 10 °C. From April, it gets hot with temperatures up to 40 °C, and the rainy season begins in May.

I have written in detail about the best time to vacation in Thailand.

Vietnam

Vietnam is a year-round travel destination. Again, the ideal travel time varies by region. For the north, the ideal months are October to April, Central Vietnam from February to April, and the south in December, January, and February.
