Botswana - Travel Reports & Tips for Botswana
Botswana Travel Tips - Everything You Need to Know!
Here you will find travel reports about Botswana and useful tips for planning your trip to East Africa. Our itinerary, information on bookings in national parks (campsites), permits, and traveling with a 4x4 vehicle with a rooftop tent.
Botswana is known among travelers for one thing: endless untouched expanses, a rich wildlife, and the largest free-roaming herds of wildlife both in the center and in the Okavango Delta. In addition, there is much sand, savanna, and often not enough water.
Botswana is a self-drive country. With a 4x4 vehicle and rooftop tent, you can reach remote areas that are not accessible by bus. Some places like the Okavango Delta can only be reached by plane or mokoro (dugout canoe) depending on the season.
An individual self-drive trip to Botswana requires some preparation time, which I unfortunately underestimated. I like to plan spontaneously, but if you have limited time, this is not possible during peak travel season.
Of course, some might shout and say: 'Sure, it's possible,' but I say no. Not when you are going during peak travel season like I did, starting to plan only three months prior and setting up an itinerary to visit the highlights of the Caprivi Strip in Namibia, Chobe National Park, Victoria Falls (Zambia, Zimbabwe), the Okavango Delta with Moremi, and the Central Kalahari in just over three weeks.
Here you will find all the tips and travel reports about Botswana that will help you plan your trip and which you should keep in mind. I will share basic mistakes that I wish I had avoided.
