The Most Beautiful Travel Destinations with Tips for Your Greece Vacation

Are you planning a vacation in Greece? Here you will find our collected travel tips and inspiration for your trip. Greece is one of the most beautiful travel destinations in Europe for beachgoers. The tourist infrastructure is very good, with plenty of hotels, vacation rentals, and homes for every budget. Greece is particularly popular for its beautiful and diverse landscape with stunning beaches and excellent Greek cuisine (because food should never be overlooked).

Greeks are incredibly hospitable and always welcome you.

Greece is a country full of impressive historical sites, beautiful islands, and stunning landscapes. Here are seven tourist highlights in Greece:

  • Acropolis of Athens: The Acropolis is one of the most famous landmarks in the world and a symbol of ancient Greek civilization. The Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike are some of the most important monuments on this sacred hill. It's truly worth the visit, even though the Acropolis seems to have been surrounded by scaffolding for decades. A "never-ending" construction site.
  • Santorini: The famous Cycladic island is known for its wonderful sunsets, whitewashed houses, and the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea. The towns of Fira and Oia are especially popular.
  • Meteora Monasteries: The Meteora Monasteries are spectacularly situated on high rocks and offer breathtaking views. This UNESCO World Heritage site includes six still-active monasteries, which are among the most impressive sights in Greece.
  • Delphi: In ancient times, Delphi was considered the center of the world. Here is the famous Oracle of Delphi, which attracted many pilgrims. The ruins of the Temple of Apollo and the archaeological museum are highlights.
  • Mykonos: Besides beachgoers, you will find a vibrant nightlife for which the island is notorious. The beautiful beaches and the notable old town are not to be missed. The famous windmills of Mykonos and the Little Venice district are popular photo spots.
  • Corfu: The island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea is known for its lush vegetation, Venetian architecture, and beautiful beaches. Corfu's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Olympia: The archaeological site of Olympia is the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Here you can visit the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, the stadium, and the ancient gymnasium. Ideal for a day trip from Athens.

These highlights give you a wonderful insight into what Greece has to offer. Discover the "unknown" Greece as well. I have already been to Kefalonia (featured image), Ithaca (a small island near Kefalonia), and explored the suburbs of Athens. Unfortunately, there are no articles about these destinations on the blog yet (they will come eventually).
