Mallorca shines with its beautiful beaches and plenty of sunshine. No wonder the Balearic Island is considered the most popular destination for Germans. Here you will find all our travel reports for Mallorca and the capital city of Palma de Mallorca, as well as all the highlights.

Travel Tips for Mallorca
Best Time to Visit Mallorca
After several visits to the island, we suggest avoiding the peak season (July - August).
For us, the best travel time is from April to June and mid-September to the end of October. During this period, the temperatures are still pleasantly warm and the tourist crowds are manageable. In April and May, it can be quite windy at times. However, we were able to use the pool at our villa at all times without freezing.
The months of January to March are very popular for trips during the almond blossom.
Our Recommendations for the Best Mallorca Travel Guides
- I really liked the travel guidebook Mallorca. The lovely and simple design is impressive. The guide also includes tips off the beaten paths. See Guide on Amazon
- A very cool guide is the WILD GUIDE BALEARES: The most beautiful coves and beaches
- Food Guide Mallorca: 30 typical dishes and tips for restaurants and hidden gems
- Photo Book: Secret Places Mallorca. Dreamy spots away from the hustle and bustle
- A great hiking guide is Rother Mallorca: The most beautiful coastal and mountain hikes with 77 tours including GPS tracks. See Guide Here
Quick Facts About Mallorca:
- Mallorca is flippantly often referred to as the 17th federal state of Germany. In reality, Mallorca is a Spanish island. The official language is Spanish. Not German, and only rarely is English spoken.
- Mallorca is one of the autonomous Balearic Islands and is located in the Mediterranean Sea.
- The island's capital is Palma de Mallorca with approximately residents.
- Although the Balearic island is completely surrounded by water, it does not have a single freshwater source. You will also search in vain for rivers and natural lakes on the island.
- With its nearly 90 km long and mostly over 1000 m high Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca has a genuine mountain range. This is particularly popular among hikers and road cyclists.
- Every beachgoer brings up to 30 grams of sand per visit, via residue in their swimsuit or towel. This adds up to around 82 tons of sand at the Platja de Palma during the main season (about 3 months).
- The most famous person from Mallorca is probably Rafael Nadal. The tennis professional was honored with the opening of his own museum in 2016. Those who think this museum only focuses on tennis are mistaken. A visit is worthwhile for sports enthusiasts.
Where is Mallorca Actually Located?
The island of Mallorca belongs to the Balearics. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea, east of the Spanish mainland. The highest peak is Puig Major at 1,436 m.
Tip for Saving Money: Mallorca Pass
During our Mallorca visit, we had the Turbo Pass for Mallorca (buy here and see info, also called Mallorca Pass) with us. The pass is a type of sightseeing pass. The advantage?
You pay only once for the pass and can visit many attractions on-site without having to pay entrance fees again. You can conveniently order the pass from home before your trip. Once you purchase the Mallorca Pass, you essentially have an all-access pass for entrance fees.
This means you don't have to worry about whether your budget can handle an additional entrance fee, and you tend to see more. Just present the Turbo Pass at the ticket counter and receive free entry tickets.

Accommodation in Mallorca
There is only one answer from us. Best to stay in the middle around Inca. Why? Regardless of which location we entered into our GPS, the travel time was always one hour. So if you want to visit destinations all over the island, being near Inca is just right.
If you want to get by without a rental car, you will be well taken care of along the coast around Palma. There are regular buses that will quickly bring you back to the airport as well.

Stay: Villa or Hotel?
There are many beautiful hotels in Mallorca, don't worry, the days of concrete bunkers are over. If you want to treat yourself to something special outside of Palma, we recommend the Lindner Golf Resort Portals Nous, not far from Puerto Portals.
If you prefer to retreat completely, we recommend considering a finca. You have your own residence, away from the stress of the cities and usually with a private pool. Our finca accommodates 6 people with a pool and grill area, and we would book it again anytime.
Nakar Hotel in Palma
During my first Mallorca vacation, I chose the Design Hotel Nakar right in Palma. A central location was important to me, and I especially wanted to avoid staying in one of the notoriously crowded hotels.
I definitely wanted to avoid ending up in a hotel where many package tourists stay.
The Nakar Hotel Palma completely won me over. Best location right on Avenida Jaime III, one of the most central streets in Palma. And the interior is exactly how we like it. Simple, individual, and timeless.
A special highlight is certainly the rooftop pool, which offers a beautiful view over the old town of Palma. You can even see the cathedral.
Where to Find the Right Finca in Mallorca?
You can find accommodations on common online portals like Airbnb or FEWO-direkt. To be honest, we prefer FEWO-direkt. So far, we have always had good experiences with it.
